Why the details are worth getting right

Great photography doesn't happen by accident. Here's what we bring to every session.

A real studio, not a ring light in a conference room

Our Frederick studio is built for professional photography, with dedicated lighting setups, controlled environments, and the space to shoot products, portraits, and more without improvising. When you come to us, you get a proper set.

Every shoot is lit with intention

Lighting isn't an afterthought here. Whether we're building a studio setup or adapting to a venue, every shoot is approached the same way: with a full lighting setup and the expertise to use it. That consistency is what makes your images look like they belong together.

One team for photo and video

Need stills and video from the same day or the same project? That's exactly what we're built for. Our team handles both, which means a single brief, a single point of contact, and no version gaps between your photo and video assets.

Who we work with

Businesses that need images to match the brand they've built

Whether you're refreshing your leadership portraits, shooting a new product line, or getting your menu photographed for print and digital, the photography should look as good as everything else you put out. We've shot headshots for growing teams, product and menu photography for clients like SoloQ and Tortacos, and brand asset sessions for businesses that know what they're trying to say visually.

Organizations covering their events

Not every event needs a dedicated videographer, but it always deserves more than smartphone photos passed around in a group chat. We cover corporate gatherings, launches, nonprofit events, and receptions with a photographer and lighting assistant on the ground, so you walk away with images you can actually use. We've covered events for organizations like the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, and we know how to move through a room without getting in the way.

How it works

1

Nail down the details

Once you're booked, we'll confirm the scope: number of subjects for headshots, shoot location, product count, event schedule, or whatever applies to your session. This is also where we talk through any specific looks, references, or brand considerations so the day itself runs without surprises.

2

Show up and shoot

We handle the setup, the lighting, and the direction. Your job is to be there. For headshots, we walk each subject through the process so no one has to know how to pose. For events and products, we move through the shoot efficiently so you're not losing more time than you planned.

3

Receive your images

Edited final images are delivered digitally within two to four weeks of your shoot date, ready for your website, LinkedIn, social channels, press materials, or print.

Frequently asked questions

Both. Our Frederick studio is available for headshots and product photography, and we travel on location for events, team shoots, and product sessions that need a specific setting. On-location rates are confirmed during scoping and reflect travel and setup.

The exact number is confirmed during scoping and depends on the type of session: number of subjects for headshots, product count, or event length for coverage shoots. We'll align on a clear number before your shoot date so there are no surprises.

Yes. If you need multiple types of photography, we can scope a session that covers both and price it accordingly. It's one of the advantages of handling everything in one place.

We can, but we'd recommend against it. Raw files require additional editing before they're usable, and our editing is what makes the final images consistent and ready to go. What we deliver is finished work, not a starting point.

Yes. Photography and video are both in-house at Purple Donut, so if you need both from the same project or same shoot day, we can scope that together. One team, one brief, one less vendor to coordinate.
